Danone, the food and drink manufacturer, has announced its symposium to be held at this year’s Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) Annual Conference in Liverpool, 20-22 October 2011, entitled:
IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME (IBS) AND PROBIOTICS: FROM CLINICAL EVIDENCE TO GUIDELINES
As awareness of IBS grows, more people with symptoms are likely to seek advice from their GPs.This symposium will provide details concerning the latest understanding and expert opinion, and attendees will be able to hear the evidence-based pathways and self care options for the management of IBS and the role of probiotics from experts in the field.
The symposium promises to be a lively and interactive discussion, with opportunity for practitioners to share their own approaches and expertise.
On Friday 21st October, Dr Sarah Jarvis GP, GP Trainer and Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners will chair, ‘Understanding and Managing IBS’ by Professor Pali Hungin, Professor of Primary Care and General Practice and Dean of Medicine, Durham University; and ‘IBS and Probiotics- From Clinical Evidence to Guidelines’ by Dr Kevin Whelan, Senior Lecturer in Nutritional Sciences in the Diabetes and Nutritional Sciences Division, King’s College London.
